Why and What is NLP?
Bullying has an insidious action, and very often a single attack can scar and cause loss of confidence in dealing with what was before a simple action. A prolonged attack over a period of time from a bully can, and does, cause psychological problems, from loss of confidence, to the extreme of self harming or suicide. One of the ways to counteract the effects of bullying is NLP.
NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming, a long dry title, but an excellent, and simple way to remove your deep problems.
NLP takes the "tools" that are already within yourself, and teaches you how to use them. NLP consists of a set of powerful techniques for rapid and effective behavioural help, and offers an "easy to use" guide for those techniques.
If you clear the root of the problem, then you can no longer use it as a reference point to deal with the issues that are current in your life. Instead, you can address the issues for what they are.
NLP is extremely effective in re-establishing positive behaviour and eliminating negative behaviour, thus, it can be a powerful way to rebalance your life.
Many people do not have conscious outcomes and wander randomly through life. NLP stresses the importance of living with conscious purpose. Once an outcome is determined, you can begin to focus on achieving that outcome. NLP strives to create more choice and never to take away choice or reduce the number of possible responses.
There are no unresourceful people only unresourceful states. The goal, is to make the choices or responses available in the appropriate circumstances.
People have all the resources they need to make the changes they want.
Remember:
"You are in charge of your mind and therefore your results"
Neuro
The nervous system – the mind and the sensory organs. Visual (pictures), Auditory (sounds), Kinaesthetic (feelings), Olfactory (smells) and Gustatory (tastes).
Linguistic
The way we communicate and interpret experience through language, including body language, images, sounds, feelings, tastes and smells. How you describe, categorise, and analyse your reality and make sense of our world and communicate your experience to others
Programming
The way we construct personal thought, communication and behaviour. Ways of perceiving and behaving. You interpret the world based on your experience, according to your needs. You develop repeated sequences of behaviour and strategies that get you what you want, and create stories to explain those experiences. Because these are of your own making, it is possible to re-program them.
NLP has been defined as:
The ability to master your own states by running your own brain. – Richard Bandler
The study of excellence and how to reproduce it. – John Grindler
NLP offers the potential for making changes without the usual agony that accompanies these phenomena... Thus it affords the opportunity to gain flexibility, creativity and greater freedom of action than most of us now know... -- Training and Development Journal
